5th Grade Math

I just got back from teaching Morgan’s class math. It was really fun! Some of the kids I could see really understood the purpose of budgetting. One of the girls in the class said “I’m not gonna be mad anymore when my Mom tells me that she doesn’t have money for something I want”. It was was worth it for that little bit of understanding.

Thank you all of my friends who gave me some advice on how to do this. As always, the teacher was probably enlightened more than the pupils.

It’s Gone!

Addi finally lost a tooth. However, it is not the one that she has been so adamant about keeping. It is the neighbor of that one. She was playing with it in class and it quite unexpectedly fell out. She will not wiggle the other one out, she wants to keep it, silly girl! We are happy to report that she got more than $1. for that tooth from the tooth fairy. I guess that she is now giving the Johnson children a cost of living raise. Addi got $1.05 for her tooth.

It’s Getting So Close

This is what Randon has been telling me in quiet moments for weeks now. I am really feeling the closeness of it now too.

I am feeling so mixed and torn about my trip. I have been so feverishly busy lately that I am looking forward to the break, but without my family….. As my travel companion Crystal said “We are not talking about that right now”, I guess that she is feeling it too. I guess that is part of the price we pay for this trip. I am even hesitant to post about this because I know that this would not be something that every mother would/could do. But, it has been heavy on my mind lately.

On the other hand I am really excited to see all of these lovely places. I have been trying to refresh my high school french, funny, because I could not remember ANYTHING but the book is refreshing my memory, slightly. I don’t think I’ll be conversing freely with any Parisians that we meet (who don’t speak english) but I think I can manage basic communication. Ou’ est la toilette?, a phrase I have made sure that I know well. I am looking forward to good french pastry too!

Loose Teeth & Sweet Dreams

I have been having dreams that I make this fantastic dessert for my family and before they can sink thier teeth into it, I eat the whole thing one little bit at a time! I think the cutting back on sugar and sweets in general is effecting me in more ways than one. (Picture me laughing!)

Addi has her first loose tooth. It is a bottom one and she is so excited! She says that she hopes the tooth fairy will bring her $10. for it. (Me laughing again.)

Charis’ Dentist Apt.

My little lady made it through her dentist apt. She has had some pain ever since the meds. to numb her wore off. We are giving her motrin now to manage that. She got one tooth filled and one tooth has a silver cap. It kinda made me sad for them to have to drill her tooth like they did. And normally I would have loved to just watch the process but this time I was too worried about her. I was worried that the meds. would wear off and she would feel what they were doing to her. Since this happens to me when I go, I always stand there worried about it happening to my children. We are both just so glad that it is all over!

Can I Do It?

Johnson Family on Flicker Now

It would just take too much time to add all of our family photos, so I just added some of my favorites. I have to now figure out how to cut, copy and paste them here? Okay, one mountain at a time.

Charis the Camera Man

I was sitting in the bathroom this morning, doing what folks do in the bathroom, when Charis brings the camera in aiming it at me. She said “Can I take your picture Mom?” I said “NO! I am on the potty!” I asked her to give me the camera, she aimed it at herself and grins. When I get the camera I see that it is on video mode, she had stopped the video and there is a small picture of me, doing what I above described!!! (Picture me red faced!) I immediately deleted that little bit of mortifying information.

Romantic Family Dinner

Went so well. We served the dinner that I first made Randon, when we were dating. We had stuffed shells, brussel sprouts garlic bread and homemade strawberry lemonade. Morgan set the table beautifully, decorating with conversation hearts and Hershey kisses. The kids used thier best table manners, which we have been practising for some time now. Our conversation varried. We spoke about youth etiquite nights that Randon and I had attended as youth where you wear a white shirt and eat with various kitchen utensils, all the while employing your finest manners. We talked about love and dating with the kids. All in all it was a really fun night.

As a side note I found it so funny that we had to wait almost 10 minutes for Kelcie to primp for this dinner. She did not think her hair was just right so when she finally came out it was with some resentment for our rushing her. She had previously taken (at least) a half hour to choose the perfect outfit for this dinner. Oh, the memories of behaving this way myself come rushing back. LOL!! I am glad that she cares about her appearance, she is a beautiful girl. And only one inch shorter than me at this point, she has taken a HUGE growth spurt. In August when we went school shopping we purchased her a girls size 12. At Christmas all of that was too small so we got her girls size 14. Now she is a junior size 2!!
