Adios Cameron!

Cameron flew home on an airplane yesterday morning. As we were waiting for him to board the plane we talked about his favorite things he did and people he met this summer. His favorite thing to do was Mexico and he said besides us his favorite person he met was Sunny (Ethan Gray) and Steven, my sisters new husband, and uncle Charles, Lisa’s husband who he said reminded him of his Dad.

Scott misses Cameron a lot. Scott finally got to see what it was like to have a sibbling of his same sex to talk to before bed at night and play legos with and all of the other things that same sex sibblings share.

For me it was fun too. I liked getting to know Cameron, though we tested eachothers patience a lot, especially towards the end! The girls are happy to be back to one brother status. Randon was great with Cameron, always taking him out to do things with him and Scott and always aware of any opportunities for teaching moments with him. We will miss him but we know he missed his mom and dad so much and is happy to be home with them.

School Clothes Shopping

We have been busy shopping lately. The girls and I love this activity so we have had a lot of fun making a day of it, getting lunch and seeing a movie too. SO FUN!

There have not been many sales this year for school clothes shopping, bummer.

Twilight

Twilight in HD

I am really excited about this movie!! I was happy to come across this scene. My girls, Randon and I will be there on Aug. 2nd to purchase the 4th book and we will be waiting in Dec. to watch the movie!

So, I am a nut. I am perfectly at peace with that. I know that some of you are seriously cynical on the subect of this book and the movie, I respect that. Say what you will, I am thrilled about it.

Ready or not…

Here they come.

Today the children and I went to AJ high school. The little girls and the boys ran ahead of Morgan, Kelcie and I. So as we are walking up to the cafeteria there is an entire lunch table of youngish teenage boys, I notice that they are all, with the exception of about 5 of them, watching us walk up and I am thinking to myself “what on earth are they looking at?” As we walk closer to them I see that they are looking at my daughter Kelcie, completely transfixed. No joke! Kelcie was COMPLETELY oblivious to thier attention. I laughed inside to myself. Wondered what it would have been like to have that sort of power at her age and then started feeling a bit ambivilant, this is my sweet baby girl I am talking about. And then I began to wonder if I am ready for this phase of motherhood and then decided that I had better get ready fast because it is here.

My pretty little baby girl has grown (4 full inches taller than me so far) into a beautiful blossoming woman and I cannot, nor would I want to hold back this tide. I am excited for her for all of the her promise and potential and all of the fun she will have dating and going to dances etc. As any mother of daughters, I have my silent fears but I also trust that her father and I have taught her sufficiently well so I must trust her and guide her.

All that said, we are sticking to the no dating until age 16 and no dances until this January.

P.S. Don’t die when you read this Kelcie, I am not TRYING to embarass you my love. I am a mother, someday you will read this and understand. Hey, you might even read this to your girls.

Squaw Peak/Sedona

Yesterday we climbed Squaw Peak with Henry & Chris and thier families. Everyone made it to the top even 3 year old Michael. Anyone who has ever climbed Squaw Peak knows what an accomplishment this is! This was Addi’s first time up the peak on her own two feet (she had been up once before when she was a baby and I packed her up the Mnt.). She did really well!

Christopher at the top of Squaw Peak.

Most of us at the top, resting a minute in the shade.

So after Squaw peak we went to Jay’s where he had breakfast made for us, yum. Then we drove up to Sedona for the day. The plan was to spend the day at Slide Rock but we could not get into the water because of bacteria from a busy 4th of July weekend there a few days before. So we just walked around and enjoyed the sights together.

Slide Rock

So then we went up Oak Creek Canyon and would have gone right on up to Flagstaff and up to the San Fransico Peaks, had I not said enough for one day. You see I had all of the kids in my car and they had all of the adults and were enjoying a quiet tranquill ride, that could have gone on forever as far as they were concerned.

We met Randon and Charis at Carlos O’Brians in Phx (Jay’s favorite resturaunt) and ended the day with dinner together. Chris and Michael fly home today and Henry and his family head off to CA.

My HEART!!!

Jason, Henry, Christopher, Michelle & Lisa, just Heather is missing, Steven too :(

We have been so blessed this year to have visits from ALL of my sibblings, a rare thing indeed!! When we are together I am reminded of the exact location of my heart.

We are planning a hike up Squaw Peak, or Camelback Mnt. on Monday, I can’t wait!
