I was reading through the journal that I kept as a girl and I found the most hilarious entry! I couldn’t help but sharing the laugh. Just to set the tone of the entry I thought I would include a photo of Jacy and I at the time that this event took place….I hope you laugh heartily and that it takes you back to some happy similar event, enjoy!

“Hey today was a drag but (!) the dance was boring except me & Jacy did something so funny! We lipsticked this awesomely fine guy’s truck. We wrote “U R so fine we can’t handle it” and “We love you” [on the windows] and drew lipstick hearts and kisses all over! It was massively funny! ….. [we watched as some guys] went and told him what we had done] and he went to see it as me and Jacy watched from the window! And we were so scared, he wasn’t mad though and we went over and talked to him at his car and he like gave us a balloon (purple). Oh his name is Matt Woodruff! Me and Jacy are obsessed with him pretty majorly…..
I realize that this may tarnish my sterling reputation among some of you but that’s okay; I love a good laugh and this was one of the rare happy events entered into my journal.
BTW, that guy had a brother (who was just as cute as he himself) and they came from another high school in our city to take us to lunch at the mall. We were good friends after that. Good times.

I can’t believe that summer is almost over. I realize that because we reside in Arizona summer will actually last for many months yet. However, I am not speaking technically of summer; I am speaking about the lazy days with very few deadlines, sleeping in when we want, watching a movie together in the middle of the day, this is what I mean when I say that summer is ending quickly. The kids start schoolAugust 12th and then our beautiful freedom will be gone for another 10 months.
I know it is time. The children get restless towards the end of summer. This generally means that they start picking fights with eachother more frequently, and they start to get bored of being home with mom. A return to structure, schedules, and homework is necessary.
With this in mind we went up to the cabin sort of spur of the moment, to send summer off, and have fun together. And we did have fun! Cousin Sandi and her crew joined us for a day of play. The picture really say it all:

Aunt Amy and her crew also joined us for a couple of days. I was blown away by how creature friendly her little Emily is. She sat with me as I read, and the other kids played in the stream, playing with the very large and particularly foul bait worms I had purchased for the kids to fish with. She was chatting with me all the while about everything that popped into her 4 year old mind, it was really fun to listen to her thoughts run. Addi and Brooklyn are like peanut butter and jelly, they had lots of fun just being together and Caleb and Scott got on very well. Caleb was the resident hook loader for the girls who were squeemish about the worms, and that was a sweet arrangement for me since I do not enjoy that task.

Charis had an encounter with a king or coral snake, I’ll never know which since they are so simular and I did not see it. It merely passed over her feet so I am thinking coral snake. Addi found what Aunt Amy diagnosed as stinging nettle but some benedryl took care of that in no time. We saw lots of bullfrogs, tadpoles, water snakes, craw fish, cranes, bees, flowers etc. We enjoyed a warm fire at night and some s’mores (and we managed to convince Scott to burn his old converse that were falling to pieces!).
It was nice to escape from the phone, the computer, and the TV (although we did watch a couple of movies, it was only 2 in 5 days time) and just let the kids roam and explore.
So, we are ready to send summer off now. Ready for the chaos that is back to school shopping, schedules, performances, test, studying, early mornings and premium time. Bring it on, we are refreshed and ready!

Something will come along and remind me of how blessed I am to have such a wonderful support system of love and friendship. God has truly blessed me with the best sort of people in my life and for this I am so grateful.
I am also reminded of how much I love my family. I have great children who comfort and cheer me. And Randon is the most perfect man for me, he knows just how to love me. Family is hard work but, it is the only thing that really matters in the end.
Going through a refiners fire always renews my ability to see what I have been blessed with. By the way, this has nothing to do with Randon’s call as Bishop. He is doing so well, we are so proud of him and we support him entirely.

….but it has been a long time since I have had to repeatedly take a deep breath and tell myself “you can do this” so much.
